Security

It seems our world has many people out to harm us from almost every angle and your computer is no different.

Spam and viruses continue to proliferate at an amazing rate. Some 50 to 200 new viruses per day are launched and all of us can agree that spam continues to grow.

Believe me, even as an IT company we fight the same battle every day. The IT industry spends billions of dollars annually fighting spammers, but there are more of them and they can sit in their little cubicle and write faster than we can block them. Once we learn of their newest one we build a block, but they've already built two or five since then so it is an uphill battle for us all.

Simply put, the best ways to avoid problems involves two fundamental steps:

  1. Do your Windows and Office updates every time they become available
  2. Don't open email you don't recognize or know where it came from

We also encourage you to install Norton Anti Virus, but understand it will only provide a little coverage.

Please do not install Norton System Works or Norton Internet Security. Both of these systems take up an enormous amount of computer resources and do very little for real protection. Most of what they provide other than anti virus Windows already has built-in so you are duplicating processes and taking up resources to do it. The same holds true with McAfee and the other brands out there.

Learn to use the filters available within Outlook, and do your updates for the best protection. Give us a call anytime at 303-678-2927 to discuss any challenges you may be having on security.
